| Wat Bowonivet architecture is a modest but important spiritual temple
Thailand where many kings and princes have served their
monks. The temple was built in the early 19th century by King Rama III,
but gained fame when Prince Mongkut (from The King and fame) founded the
Thammayut Thai Buddhist sect and served as chief abbot during part of
27 years his monks. Today, the complex is home to the Supreme Patriarch
and as the national headquarters of the Thammayut monastic sect, an order
still stricter discipline than the traditional Mahanikaya. Because
its origin in a very disciplined and Buddhism, Wat Bowonivet
enjoys a high representative utation among the Thai people.
